Just want to say, "Cheers for the nice website."
Below, a few nice Agave ovatifolia and one of my large Soehrensia formosa in my garden (just west of Raleigh, North Carolina) this winter. Low -13C (7F). They sailed through just fine.

Re: Hello from North Carolina
Thanks, Harriet. Good to see you are here!
Melt in the Sun - The A. ovatifolia in the background were planted from 4-inch pots in 2008, so that makes them six years old in the garden. Probably you can add two years to that, or three for growth from seed at the nursery. The very wide-leaf form in the foreground is younger, being planted in 2011 (if I recall correctly).

Yo, Peter!
For some reason my password no longer works at CactiGuide, and I have not labored to re-apply.
This site was recently recommended to me, and I like its set up. Seems, too, there are knowledgable folks here setting a standard (a tip of the hat in your direction) that I hope will be followed .

Re: Hello from North Carolina
Nice plants- do you always get that much snow?
I gave my brother, in Kannapolis, a fairly large Agave Variegata and the snowstorm a couple years back killed it- he tore it up before seeing if it would come back up from the roots.
Hey Peter- my opuntias don't get around that much- they flower at differing times.
