Re: A visit to the Desert Botanical Garden
I have neither seen nor heard of either of those variegates. #4 is labelled Y. faxoniana. Not sure about #8. Is it the same as #4? BTW, what Yucca is #11?

No. 4 and 8 are the same yuccas. Maybe both are another form of Yucca treculeana. Yucca faxoniana has boroader leaves with filaments.GeeS wrote:I have neither seen nor heard of either of those variegates. #4 is labelled Y. faxoniana. Not sure about #8. Is it the same as #4? BTW, what Yucca is #11?
No. 11 is Y. treculeana for sure.

You're right, of course. Here is the best I can do with the label (#4). Perhaps it does read Yucca treculeana.

Re: A visit to the Desert Botanical Garden
Thanks a lot. Is this the garden in Phoenix? I made a visit there many years ago. Surprisingly, I do not remeber lots of agaves. I fact, I was rather impressed with their fabulous Opuntia collection. I was visiting the Grand Canyon, and came down from Flagstaff. Jkw

Re: A visit to the Desert Botanical Garden
Yes it is. The Desert Botanical Garden is generally considered to house the third most impressive Agave collection in the world, behind Mexico City and Huntington (some place it ahead of Huntington). The Boyce Thompson Arboretum, which also has its own thread here, is about an hour east of Phoenix, and boasts nearly as impressive a collection. Ironically, Tucson is the real center of xeriscape here, rather than Phoenix. Arizona is a fun place, isn't it?
