Looks like Encephalartos to me, hopefully someone can chime in that is knowledgeable on identifying them.

That is what I have decided. The thorny spikes are what attracted me to it, amongst a group of undistinguished encephalartos. I agonized all the way home, hoping that I had not paid an exhorbatent sum for a Z. loddigesii.
