Hello from Buckeye, AZ

Post by Linda »

Hi! We're so glad we found this forum! We moved to this suburb of Phoenix, four years ago, during the pandemic. It gave us a chance to add some 'southwest flare' plants to the existing landscape. Most of our plants are thriving, since they are cactus & agave, with a few palms. Since we're originally from the Midwest (Minneapolis and Kansas City area), we're learning how to garden in a desert - and frankly, loving it!

Welcome!
Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".

A belated welcome from Sun City. We also are from the midwest, and love it here.

A local resource, which another member reminded me of, is the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. Once the temperatures cool down, it is on my list of things to visit.
