There seems to be quite a varying amount of Opuntia identified as atrispina. They only exist naturally along a 50 mile stretch of the Texas border from Uvalde to around Del Rio. These specimen on the Amistad Reservoir seem to be a close match to what’s presented in “Cactus of Texas Field Guide”
