Arbutus xalapensis var. texensis (Texas madrone)

Yesterday I bought a few more Texas Madrone trees from a local grower. They do a lot better developing in the shade of a mother tree. In the hill country that would be Ashe Juniper, although some have success otherwise out in the open.

Cool - who/where is this grower? Mine died so I am casually looking for another.

He is just outside Austin in Dripping Springs, Texas. He opens up seasonally and sells on those weekends. He might be able to arrange something different for you if you email him in advance.
