This is a wonderful hybrid created by Cynthia Giddy many years ago, not to be confused with the very similar hybrid named after her (a slight larger plant with less perfectly symmetrical flowers). Plants are stemless, slow to offset and have stiff, unbendable leaves that vary from a dull deep green to maroon. Leaves are generally spotted but somewhat sparsely and neatly. Teeth prominent and sharp. Flowers nearly all year round though mostly in autumn. Flowers are generally unbranched and on short pedicles (less than 12"), made up of a tight, geometric conical raceme of orange fading to yellow at the mouth. Hardy down to about 22F. Good full sun plant, but will tolerate some shade.
