Re: Agave 'Burnt Burgundy'
Greg Starr's creation!
Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".

Re: Agave ×'Burnt Burgundy'
My largest one, now about 3' across; I got this in a 1gal pot from Greg Starr in the spring of 2011. Greg or Marty, have any of your large ones bloomed yet? I'm curious how big this is going to get...size 9 foot flop for scale. This one is in all-day sun so looks a little yellow by summer's end.

I have 3, and they all offset readily when they were in pots. They are all in the ground now, and zero offsets since.

Re: Agave ×'Burnt Burgundy'
Getting bigger (just shy of 4'), and still no flower for now. Both palmeri and v-r are later-season bloomers...so maybe it'll still make it this year? Maybe.

Closer to 5' now than 4...still no sign of a flower.

Re: Agave ×'Burnt Burgundy'
I stopped by the plant again today - pushing 6 feet across. They've given it a really stupid haircut for sure...you can't really see but it's on about 8" of neatly trimmed trunk.
First pic is the whole gang of misfits I planted when my parents owned the place - back left is A. avellanidans, then ocahui v. longifolia, 'Burnt Burgundy', and behind are striata and pelona x vilmoriniana.

Re: Agave ×'Burnt Burgundy'
Mine is still a young plant. Seeing the pics above, it seems that the young plants have prominent burgundy edges but as they get bigger, the burgundy edging get lighter and in few pics, I hardly see any burgundy edging on larger specimens. Any views?

Re: Agave ×'Burnt Burgundy'
Thanks for pointing out, Melt in the Sun
I have gone through the thread you have quoted and I agree with you. Photo I have posted above is indeed not A. x'Burnt Burgundy', however, it was sold to me as A. x'Burnt Burgundy' and has probably been imported from Thailand.
